FAQ

1. How do I know what age category my athlete should play in?
The different classifications are determined by what age the athlete is on January 1 of the
current season. For example, if my child is 6 years old and turns 7 on her birthday January 5 of the current year, she is eligible to play 6U.

2. If my child played up last fall season because of “Dixie” age change, can they move back
down?

Yes. The Atoka Fall league was played by “Dixie” rules. Due to the fact that Dixie changed the
birthday requirement, several athletes moved up in divisions this past fall anticipating this
rule change for the spring. However, since we are no longer playing by Dixie rules, we will
play by the FASA rules. The athlete will be able to play in whatever classification she qualifies
for with the January 1 birthdate rule.

3. Will there be travel teams allowed to come in as a team or do they go through the draft
process?

All teams will be selected by the draft.

4. If my child turns 7 on January 3, can I move them up or do they have to stay down?
We strongly recommend each athlete to play in the division they qualify for. However, if
there is an issue that comes up, it will be voted on a case by case basis. This is done for the
safety and the integrity of the game.

5. What is the biggest difference between Dixie and FASA?
There are couple differences between the 2 leagues. There will no longer be any circle ball.
The play is stopped by stopping the lead runner period. There are also no tenth batter rules to end an inning. Innings will be stopped by getting 3 outs or by an inning run limit. Also, as the athletes progress in age, the rules will be the same as the rules they will play in middle and high school.

6. Will FASA have district, state, and World Series Tournaments?
For the upcoming 2019, our all star teams will be able to compete in a district and state
tournament. There will not be a FASA recreational World Series for 2019; however, the state
championship winners will be able to play in the “C” class travel world series if that team so
desired to do so. But, there will be a Recreational FASA World Series in 2020.
